HazMat Training

  • Mood:

For the past few days I've been getting trained in HazMat transportation.  I'm not gonna lie, the topic was pretty boring yet interesting in a way...I think it's because of the two guys that were presenting it.  They have been involved in this sort of thing for years so they knew the material inside and out.  Plus, they were a little hammy and cracked jokes that made us all laugh.  Today was the last day of the training (THANK GOD) and guess what?  There was a test.  I was huffing and puffing, flipping through my notes and the two confusing books that they proved, all pissed off because I had no idea what I was looking for or what I was writing down.  The instructors had said that we could ask them questions and they would be happy to practically give us the answers but I was stubborn.  I never have asked my instructors for help and I wasn't going to start now, so I didn't.  People all around me were asking questions and going through the test pretty quickly and there I was still being stubborn trying not to cry.  It was frustrating.  I was POSITIVE I would fail.  As people were finishing their tests, they were handing them in to the instructors and they just graded them on the spot and gave them their results.  People were leaving with smiles on their faces.  I finally wrote in jibberish to the final questions and just went to one of the instructors, turned in my test and went back to work.  Later on in the day I was told that I managed to stay in the 80% range!  I was very surprised because I had no idea what I was doing.  God definitley works in mysterious ways.
